History
The future needs a past, and the Best Western Hotel Lamm has one. Many guests ask about the history of the hotel, which Diana & Heinz Stärk and their family have run with love and passion since 1991, constantly improving it along the way. For three generations, the Stärk family has been a warm and welcoming host. Since January 1, 2024, B.W. Hotel Betriebsgesellschaft has been operating the hotel as part of its hotel group.
2024
Effective January 1, 2024, the property was transferred to B.W. Hotelbetriebsgesellschaft mbH as a leased operation.
2020
All hotel rooms are equipped with modern 50-inch televisions with satellite reception and Internet access.
2019
Digitalization continues: All guest rooms are equipped with Betterspace iQ tablets. Guests can view the digital guest information booklet on the tablets; they can also directly control the heating and air conditioning in their rooms, place orders, and communicate with the Lamm team. In addition, the phone system was migrated to a cloud-based version of Starface. Guests can now make free calls to landlines in 22 countries.
2018
Individually adjustable air conditioning units were also installed in the guest rooms—the entire hotel is now air-conditioned.
2017
The fitness room, equipped with a treadmill, cross-trainer, stationary bike, and weight station, was opened. The LammSpa, featuring a sauna, sanarium, and relaxation room, was also opened.
2015/ 2016
The Lamm-Stüble restaurant was completely renovated, air-conditioned, and renamed “CupClub – Bar & Lounge.” The breakfast room was also air-conditioned. The front desk, hallways, and lobby were renovated and given a stylish makeover. The exterior facade and terrace were redesigned.
2014
Modernization efforts continued: the public restrooms in the basement and the stairwell have been shining in new splendor with a modern design since the beginning of the year. In addition, our guests in all room categories now enjoy the convenience of an in-room safe.

Paving of our hotel’s private parking lot and installation of a barrier system and video surveillance.
2012/ 2013
Modernization of 27 additional bathrooms and renovation of a total of 37 guest rooms, so that all our guest rooms now feature a contemporary design that invites guests to relax and feel at home.
2011
Renovation of the bathrooms in 10 rooms, which were also equipped with modern sensory showers. In addition, all hotel rooms were equipped with modern 32-inch LCD color televisions with cable reception and 130 TV channels. Our new locking system for the hotel rooms now also meets international standards.
2009
Renovation and redesign of seven deluxe rooms and furnishing of the suite.
2009
Modernization of the front desk and lobby area, and redesign of the exterior facade; additionally, the conversion of the Hohentwiel, Hohenkrähen, and Mägdeberg side rooms—formerly used as event spaces—into a modern restaurant with a permanently integrated buffet. Since then, the restaurant has once again been operated in-house. The breakfast area has moved from the rooftop garden to the ground floor, within the newly designed restaurant area.
June 2007
The Hotel Lamm joined the BEST WESTERN group. Best Western Hotels is a global quality association and partnership. Its benefits include a unique and certified quality management system and the opportunity to earn hotel miles and reward points, which you can redeem for free nights or free flights.
Early 2005
Renovation of a portion of the guest rooms as well as renovation of the hallways, including the installation of new carpeting. In addition, a free internet terminal for guests was set up at the front desk, and Wi-Fi was installed throughout the hotel.
2003/ 2004
Complete renovation of the kitchen.
2002
Upgrade to new information technology, including an ISDN telephone system with an additional S0 data port (Internet) and a wake-up service in the guest rooms with voicemail.
2000
Comprehensive renovation of the Hohentwiel, Hohenkrähen, and Mägdeburg conference and event rooms, and installation of a ventilation system with heat recovery, including in the restaurant and kitchen.
1997
The rooftop garden café undergoes a complete renovation and is converted into a breakfast room with approximately 60 seats. The restaurant operations, including the event spaces, are leased out.
1993
Renovation of the rooms in the south wing: In a record time of just 8 weeks, the plumbing, heating, electrical systems, windows, doors, and furnishings, among other things, are brought up to the latest standards. In the years that followed and continuing to this day, the hotel rooms—including their furnishings—and the hallways have been and continue to be continuously renovated.
1992
Modern technology makes its way into the traditional hotel: the hotel’s computer system and telephone system are put into operation. In addition, the Tiffany Conference and Event Center is expanded.
1991
Heinz-Oskar Stärk takes over the Hotel Lamm as the third generation of the family to run it.
Construction of the west wing, which will expand the facility to 79 rooms and 200 restaurant seats.
Karlheinz Stärk takes over the hotel and restaurant business as the second generation of the family to run it. With this generational transition, the Hotel Lamm undergoes another transformation. The old building is demolished up to the second floor and then expanded to the fifth floor. Thanks to the addition, the Hotel Lamm now has a total of 63 rooms and continues to offer seating for 165 guests in the restaurant.
Construction of the south wing, which will increase the capacity of the Hotel Lamm to 45 rooms and 165 restaurant seats. At the same time, a rooftop garden café will be opened on the 5th floor.
Following the second expansion, the Hotel Lamm now has 24 rooms and seating for 125 guests in its restaurant.

Margarete and Oskar Stärk purchase the building as early as October 25.
